Day 5

Day 5

Saturday, February 20, 2016

It's our last day in AZ.
Travel Day.

Jeff and Michelle got up early to say "Good-bye".

Jeff took Jan and me to Pheonix.

Here's what we saw along the way...

A waiting stack train on the outskirts of Tuscon.

The front of that same train.

 More locomotives.

A passing shot of the mountains.

 Ditto.

The next few shots will be capturing our approach to Picacho Peak.
It's just above the white car in the picture above.

 Dead center.

Jeff's steady hand on the wheel.

We passed a power station and I took some pictures.

I plan to model this on my basement layout.
Maybe these pictures will help me in the design.

 Getting closer...
And Yes, we did climb that tallest peak.

You can see the sister peak pretty well in this shot.

The saddle now coming into view.

 Going...

 Going...

 Going...

 Gone.

I took this picture looking the other direction.
The valley in the middle of the picture, offset just a bit left, is where we hiked with Dave on our first day.

At the airport, saying our last good-byes.

 Until next time.
Feel the love!

 At Gate 20.

This picture was much better in person.

Preparing for takeoff from Sky Harbor airport.

Chicago skyline on our approach to O'Hare.
Willis Tower.

 John Hancock building.

Chicago looks so different from up here, doesn't it?

Thinking of our family in Rogers Park somewhere in this picture.

Ben in the driver's seat taking us home.
Thanks Ben!

Day 4

Day 4

Friday, February 19, 2016

Here's what we did today...so far:

Hiking at the base of the Catalina Mountain Range
another 360 view
Length: .14

We parked the car and got started on our hike.
It won't be as strenuous as the other hike.
In fact, it will be very nice as we walk in the creek bed.

Jeff Meyer, Jan Berg, Michelle Meyer taking a closer look.
Not sure at what, but they are.

 Nice creek. Water cold.

Jeff wasn't very careful walking through the thorn bushes.

 Taking our lunch break.

On our way back looking back where we've come.

 I'm bummed I didn't capture the dogs.
Finley is the light colored dog.
Luna is the dark one.

Back at the car.

We'll go home and freshen up and then head downtown for more fun tonight!

Back later...

I'm BACK!

Here's what we did tonight in downtown Tucson.

Check this out:

On our way to the Trolley.

We made it - on time!

\
The end of the line is the clinic where Michelle works.

Entering El Rio Community Health Center.

We ate at a restaurant called "Downtown".

 Yes, we were there too!

 Get closer.

Waiting for the Trolley to return home.

 The Trolley on a curve.

Waiting to get off the last stop.

Day 3

Day 3

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Today was a very fun day.

Check this out:

We started off with a walk from Jeff & Michelle's house to their old house (shown above).

Jeff & Michelle are working on a deal to possibly buy this home across the street from their previous home.

Jan and I took a walk to downtown UofA.
We stopped at the Starbucks and sat in a nearby courtyard.
I did my basketball stats...

Jan did SADUKO and read a book.

Length: .18
Here's a recent addition to public transportation in Tucson.

Walking back to Jeff & Michelle's looking east campus quad.

 Now turning around looking west.

 Back at Jeff & Michelle's.

I stopped in the middle of 4th Street and took a  pic toward campus.

Jeff & Michelle went to HobbyTown and discovered all Model Railroad items were off 50%.
I bought the SW1500 swithcher and Jeff bought me the "big trees".
Thanks Jeff!

 This will be a treat.
We set off for Gate's pass to see the sunset.

Check this out:

First, we had to find a good place to view the sunset.

Found a place after the women "freaked out" because of the apparent sharp drop-off on the nobula.

Having some nice appetizers for the "experience".

Settling in and getting ready for some spectacular views.

I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

We took a break for some "postcard" pictures.

Length: .48
Some humorous moments.

 At the peak!

One last shot as we returned back to the car.

Picture here.
The last supper at Jeff & Michelle's.

Tomorrow we'll be eating downtown Tucson for supper.
