Day 2
Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Dave and Rhonda took us half way to Phoenx.
Jeff left from Tucson and met us at the half way point, Picacho Peak.
We hiked to the very top.
After we finished we thought we really outdid ourselves.
Here are some pics to prove our point...
This is the back yard of the place where Dave & Rhonda are renting for 6 weeks.
Trail Head for Hunter's Trail.
On your mark, Get set, GO!
I wasn't quite sure how this pic would turn out.
Kinda neat don't you think?
We've traveled half way up toward the saddle.
I'll point that out once we're there.
We're on our way at the base of the solid wall front.
The saddle is just ahead.
I stayed back. Jeff went ahead.
See that small white dot in the middle of the picture?
That's Jeff.
Dave and Rhonda Meyer would return back to base at this point.
They have dinner plans for tonight.
Good thing they did.
We wouldn't return from the peak until just before their dinner date time.
Not sure why I took this picture.
Part sun. Part shade.
We've been in the shade respite for a few minutes.
We're about to enter the heat of the sun.
The saddle is just beyond the path in the sun.
I turned around toward the shade area and took this shot.
Yes, this is the saddle. We just came from the north.
This view is facing the south flat lands.
Very strange.
Before heading to the peak we had to descend to the base of the wall to go around to the other side.
At the base we hit the sun which we would remain until we reached the summit.
Jeff Meyer taking a picture of me taking a picture of him.
Action shot on the ascent.
Calcified layers within the hard rock surface.
Look closely for the lizard.
Not even sure if you can see it due to the shadows.
Getting closer.
Don't you just love the blue sky?
We had quite a few places where we were very thankful to have those cables.
The sister peak of Picacho.
We made it! We're at the top!
Length: .33
360 view.
Jan Berg & Jeff Meyer at the summit.
Length: .18
See the Westbound UP train?
Length: .20
Jan actually asking about the locomotives on the same train.
I had to capture the moment.
On our way down.
I tried to capture the 3D image of the layers as we descended.
It didn't really work. It never seems to capture what you see in person.
Another shot of Jeff taking a picture of me taking a picture of Jeff.
See the white dot left of the Saguaro about 2/3 of the way up and 1/4 of the way from the left?
Some of the cables to help with the climb.
Jeff making sure everyone is safe and secure.
Length: .11
Another train! I can't believe it.
On our descent: A look back at Picacho peak.
Length: .23
At the base of the great wall.
A look down to the parking lot where Jeff parked his car.
Then a look back toward the saddle.
Another shot of our trip to the base.
Yes, that's where we came from.
Back at Tucson.
This is the courtyard at Jeff & Michelle's.
Very festive wouldn't you say?
So fun! I link your photography dad!!! Xoxo
